Updated Review: Great Coffee, Room for Improvement Since the new team took over and rebranded as Tres Cafe, the service has significantly improved. The coffee and range of hot beverages are outstanding. Although I haven’t tried the food yet, the menu feels a bit limited and could use more variety. Excited to see how it evolves in the future!

Such a lovely cafe, amazing gluten free options & alternative milks available. The staff were so friendly and the toilets were spotless - 10/10!

Good food, friendly staff, nice cool place to get out the sun and enjoy an iced coffee! They do Spanish lattes/Vietnamese coffees with condensed milk which I can never find anywhere!

Lovely atmosphere and staff. Nicely tucked away if you want to escape the high street bustle. Reasonably priced and dog friendly. Highly recommend the berry pancakes.

Tres may have opened its doors to the public in 1850. It may have been a popular meeting place for soldiers to gather prior to fighting in the Crimean War. The name comes as a reminder to the troops about 'the third light'. First person to have their cigarette lit alerts a sniper, second, the sniper takes aim. The third light becomes the sniper's target. The name, Tres, may also be derived from the fact that three people run the business, we'll never know for certain. It's a fairly typical 'Nam coffee shop. Tasty (tasty, very very tasty) coffee with a nice big swirly on the top. Little biccy supplied as an extra. Nice selection of munchables, both hot and cold. They also supply hot food which becomes cold if you don't eat it for a while. Worth a visit.
